Farakka Barrage of West Bengal is quite famous among the tourists for having an interesting past. The archeologists have stated that in the 15th and 16th centuries Farakka was a bustling dwelling place of the Mughal Emperors. The supporting evidences came up in the form of weapons, coins, statues and utensils all of which were found while excavation was going on. Farakka Barrage symbolizes the excellent engineering endeavors of Shri Debesh Mukherjee who was believed to be the prime figure behind the formation of the dam.
